How to Buy a Mobile Phone at the Lowest Price Online in India
By Offers Superfast · Published · Updated · 7 min read

Two people can buy the same phone on the same day and pay very different prices. One pays the full price. The other uses a bank offer, a coupon and the right sale day, and saves ₹2,000 to ₹10,000. This guide explains, in simple words, how to buy a mobile phone at the lowest price online in India – on Amazon, Flipkart or any other store – with real examples from the deals we posted.
You don't need to be an expert. Follow the steps below, use the checklist at the end, and you will rarely pay more than you need to.
1. Understand the bank card offers
Most of the lowest phone prices on Amazon and Flipkart come with a bank offer. There are three common types:
- Instant discount (flat off): The discount is taken off the price on the payment page itself, for example "₹1,500 off on HDFC credit cards". This is the best type because you see the lower price before you pay.
- Cashback: You pay the full price and get money back later, as card cashback or store balance. It is still a saving, but it comes after some days, and there may be a monthly limit.
- No-cost EMI discount: You pay in 3, 6, 9 or 12 monthly instalments and the interest is given back as a discount. Some deals give a bigger discount only on EMI, for example "SBI 9-month no-cost EMI".
Before you pay, open the offers section on the product page and read the terms: which cards are included (credit, debit or both), the minimum order value, the maximum discount, and whether EMI is needed. Our Credit Cards page lists cards that give regular savings on shopping.
2. Use the exchange offer the smart way
If you have an old phone, the exchange offer can cut the price a lot. A few tips:
- Check the exchange value for your exact old phone model before you decide. The value depends on the model and its condition.
- Answer the condition questions honestly. If the phone does not match what you selected, the delivery person can reduce the value or refuse the exchange.
- Compare the exchange value with what you can get by selling the old phone yourself. Sometimes selling it separately and using only the bank offer gives you more money.
- Some deals allow an exchange bonus together with a bank offer. Read the offer details to see if both can be used together.
3. No-cost EMI: when it helps
No-cost EMI is useful when you don't want to pay the full amount at once. But remember:
- Some banks charge a small processing fee and GST on the interest part, so "no-cost" can cost a little.
- The EMI amount blocks part of your card limit until you pay it off.
- Compare the final price with EMI versus with a flat card discount. Pick whichever is lower overall.
4. Collect coupons and stack the offers
Many phone deals have a coupon on the product page – "Apply ₹500 coupon" or "Collect extra ₹2,000 off". You must click to collect it before you add the phone to the cart. A coupon can usually be combined with a bank offer, which is how the best "loot" prices happen. Check our Coupons page for codes that are working now.
5. Track the price before you buy
Phone prices on Amazon and Flipkart go up and down every few days. Before you buy:
- Look at the price of the same phone over the last few weeks. If it was lower recently, it may come back.
- Check the same variant (RAM/storage and colour) – different colours sometimes have different prices.
- Follow our Mobile Offers page – we post price drops as soon as they go live.
6. Compare Amazon and Flipkart
The same phone is often sold on both stores, with different bank partners. In our recent phone deals, Amazon prices mostly came with HDFC card discounts, while Flipkart prices mostly came with SBI or Flipkart Axis card offers. So the cheaper store for you depends on which card you hold. Open both product pages, select your own card in the offers section, and compare the final amount – not the price shown at the top of the page.
7. Buy at the right time
- Big sales: Festive sales (around Diwali), year-end and Republic Day sales usually have the best phone prices and the biggest bank offers.
- Flash sales and locked prices: Some deals are live only for a few hours, like "6 PM to 10 PM". Keep your address and payment ready.
- New launch: When a new model launches, the older model often gets a price cut. If you don't need the newest phone, wait for that drop.
- First day of a sale: Popular phones go out of stock fast, so the first hours are usually the best time.
Real examples from our phone deals
Here is how much these tricks actually saved in deals we posted recently:

- Lava Virat V1 Pro 5G (6GB/128GB): ₹13,499 on Flipkart without the card offer, and ₹13,132 with the SBI 6-month no-cost EMI discount.
- Redmi 15C 5G Prime Edition (4GB/128GB): posted at ₹15,999 on Amazon, and at ₹14,999 with the HDFC card flat discount – ₹1,000 saved just by paying with the right card.
- Infinix HOT 60i 5G (4GB/128GB): ₹14,069 with the Flipkart Axis card, when the usual price was around ₹15,000.
- iPhone 17 (256GB): ₹85,783 with the SBI flat discount early in the week, then ₹83,777 a few days later with ₹9,000 flat off on SBI credit cards. Waiting a few days saved ₹2,006. Full details in our iPhone 17 lowest price deal guide.
8. Check before you place the order
- Seller rating and whether the phone comes with the brand warranty.
- Return or replacement policy for the phone.
- The final amount on the payment page after all discounts – this is the only price that matters.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Looking only at the top price. The price at the top of the page often does not include the bank offer – or includes one you can't use.
- Forgetting the coupon. If you don't click "collect" before adding to cart, the coupon discount is lost.
- Choosing the wrong variant. A deal price is for one RAM/storage and colour combination only.
- Accepting a low exchange value. If the exchange value is poor, sell the old phone yourself and use only the bank offer.
- Panic-buying after a deal ends. Good prices often come back within days.
Quick checklist
- Pick the phone and the exact variant.
- Check the price history and compare Amazon vs Flipkart.
- Collect any coupon on the product page.
- Choose the best bank offer: flat discount vs no-cost EMI.
- Add exchange only if the value is good.
- Confirm the final price, then pay.

Frequently asked questions
When is the best time to buy a phone online in India?
Big sales like the festive (Diwali) sales, year-end and Republic Day sales usually bring the lowest prices and the biggest bank offers. Price drops also happen on normal days, so keep an eye on our Mobile Offers page.
Is no-cost EMI really free?
Not always. Some banks charge a processing fee and GST on the interest part. Compare the final EMI cost with the flat card discount price and pick the lower one.
Can I use a coupon and a bank offer together?
Usually yes. Collect the coupon on the product page first, then choose the bank offer on the payment page. The offer terms on the product page tell you if they can be combined.
Do bank offers work on debit cards?
Some do, many don't. Each offer says whether it works on credit cards, debit cards or both – read it before you pay.
Is it better to exchange my old phone or sell it?
Check the exchange value for your exact model and compare it with what you could get by selling it yourself. If selling gives more, skip the exchange and use only the bank offer.
Is Amazon or Flipkart cheaper for phones?
It depends on the day and your card. In our recent deals, Amazon prices mostly used HDFC card offers and Flipkart used SBI or Flipkart Axis offers. Compare the final price on both.
